We have decided to present a list of the most expensive cars sold in Auto Auctions for the last 5 years. It is not surprising that the first 5 positions were represented by Ferrari in our list. But let’s see what models were popular and for what price they were sold. 1. The current record of the auction price for a car, which is also world record and absolute record, is $16,390,000 for a 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa. This car was sold on August 21, 2011 in California, United States. The model of Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa is a race car built by Ferrari in the 1950s and 60s. The expression "Testa Rossa" means "red head." The most famous the 250TR was produced from 1957 to 1958; only 19 cars were manufactured.
2.1959 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spider Competizione was announced to be the most expensive car sold in Auction in 2010. It was sold for $7,260,000. This model was designed for export to America and was Scaglietti's version of an open-top 250 GT. 45 cars were produced before the SWB version replaced it.
3. Again 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa was the most expensive car of the year 2009. The car was awarded to the bidder for $12,402,500.
4. May 18, 2008 a record price was given for 1961 Ferrari GT SWB California Spider. The previous owner of this car was Hollywood actor James Colburn and this automobile was sold for $10,894,900. The 1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spyder was designed by Pininfarina and manufactured by Scaglietti. About 55 examples were built.
5. 1962 Ferrari 330 TRI/LM Spider was sold for $9,281,250 to unknown buyer at the Auto Auction in 2007. It is the only 4-litre Testa Rossa built and the last front-engined sports racing car manufactured by Ferrari. It was driven by the racing pairing of Phil Hill and Olivier Gendebien during “the 24 Hours of Le Mans”.
